Must-Do Next Steps

Use these templates to announce your new subscription to your users. If you received custom registration instructions from us (common if you also subscribe to Boards & Beyond), please send those instructions to your users instead.

About these instructions:

  • These instructions are not applicable to token trials (you will have received custom registration instructions from us with with your tokens).
  • All users need to create their own account; there is no way to create accounts for users
  • Faculty will need to use these instructions to gain access to the Step 1 and Step 2 content. In set-up step #3, we will set up admin dashboard access for faculty. This is different than content access. Faculty can just have admin dashboard access (set up by you), just have content access (set up by themselves), or both admin dashboard access and content access (set up by you and themselves).
  • If you have access to Step 1 and Step 2, you can send separate Step 1 and Step 2 instructions based on user need (e.g. Step 1 instructions to M1s and M2s, Step 2 instructions to M3s and M4s) or send the combined instructions to all users. If you send instructions based on user need, set a reminder to send instructions next year.

Send instructions to your users directly:

Or direct users to our First Aid Forward Guide, which includes registration instructions, how-to videos, and more. We recommend copying our First Aid Forward Guide or the link to it to your LibGuides, library page, or course pages.

Activate Account

If you are the institutional administrator, you will have received an email from us with the subject line “First Aid Forward Admin Access Invite.” Please accept the Terms of Use in the email to be taken to the site admin dashboard and click through the account setup process.

That's it! You can now use the admin dashboard and enable admin dashboard access for faculty (see next step)

If you didn't receive the email, or aren't sure if you're the institutional administrator, email us at CustomerSuccess@mheducation.com

Sign into the admin dashboard using any of the First Aid Forward links: firstaid.mheducation.com, firstaid.mheducation.com/step-one, or firstaid.mheducation.com/step-two

There are two different admin views--one for each product--that you can toggle between:

Access "Student" Content

To access the First Aid Forward content, you need to follow the registration instructions from the previous set-up step. After content access is added to your account, you'll be able to flip between Admin View and Student View:

With the Admin Dashboard, faculty can utilize performance analytics to monitor learning progress and identify at-risk students that need intervention.

If you are the institutional administrator, then you gained access to the admin dashboard in the previous set up step. You can now set up admin dashboard access for other faculty.

As a reminder, the Admin Dashboard includes student-specific information, including, but not limited to, student name, email, and quiz performance; use appropriate discretion when assigning access.

To assign access, follow along with our Clickable Demo (Step 3: Invite Admins/Instructors). If the demo isn't working, follow along with these steps:

  1. Sign into the Admin Dashboard
  2. Click on your profile icon(upper right-hand corner)
  3. Click on Admin Management
  4. Click on Invite Admin
  5. Enter the user's institutional email address and assign them a role. Roles:
    • Admin: A user with access to the Admin Dashboard who can invite other admins/instructors.
    • Instructor: A user with access to the Admin Dashboard who cannot invite other admins/instructors.
  6. Click Add to send the admin dashboard invite to the user. Users do not need to have a First Aid Forward account already to receive an invite to the Admin Dashboard.
    • If the user already has a First Aid Forward account, they will receive an email asking them to accept the invitation to the admin dashboard.
    • If the user does not already have a First Aid Forward account, they will receive an email asking them to accept First Aid Forward's Terms of Use before they can access the admin dashboard.
  7. We recommend sending a friendly email to let faculty know about their access and what it entails. Copy the template below, or write your own message. We recommend including:
    • The registration instructions from step #1 (so they can gain access to the First Aid Forward "student view" content)
    • The link to our Guide for Faculty, which includes the Clickable Demo, User Guide, and more to help them get started in First Aid Forward.
