Onboarding Landing Page: Administrators, Faculty, & Students

Overview for Administrators

     |          |

Administrators for Test Prep trials and subscriptions will receive from McGraw Hill a series of emails in their inbox as part of the Customer Success team's onboarding communications. The admin will receive a welcome email which will include information on how to login as the admin. The welcome emails will bring the admin to this onboarding page to help guide them through navigating the sites and the admin functionalities, including additional information on access details, user support resources, and more.

More information is provided below in the "How to Access and Navigate" box with details on managing users and class sections, as well as in the "Admin Information" box with details on authentication and usage reports.

In the dropdown menu above, select "Test Prep" >> "Faculty & Students" to view more information relevant to your end users, such as instructor features and navigation, assigning content, student question banks and learning modules, and much more.

Admin: How to Access and Navigate

In the welcome letter provided by McGraw Hill at the start of your trial or subscription, the admin can sign into the platform with the admin credentials listed in the welcome letter. Please note the admin login includes a specific username and password. The admin login is separate from any personal instructor or student account/login the admin may have in addition to the admin login.

Authentication can be setup on your RadReview and PA Exam Prep trials and subscriptions to enable student access to the collection; however, instructor accounts can only be created by the admin using the admin login. Authentication is not currently available for Case Files: Teaching Cases, and instructor accounts must be created by the admin whereas student accounts can be created either by the admin or the individual instructors.

For more information on accessing and navigating the admin login in RadReview, PA Exam Prep, and Case Files: Teaching Cases, please refer to each PDF user guide below.

For any questions or help with the admin login, please reach out to CustomerSuccess@mheducation.com

In the admin login under "Manage Users" in the upper-left menu, the admin can create and manage instructor and student user accounts, including resetting or updating user login credentials. Please note the admin login is separate from an instructor and/or student login that an admin may create and use for themselves.

When setting up user accounts, the admin can designate the status of the user as either student or instructor. Instructor access is setup and managed by the admin to ensure that students cannot setup instructor accounts. The admin can create new user accounts manually one at a time with the "+New User" option or by downloading the template found at the bottom of the "Browse" tab on the "Manage Users" page. With the template, the admin can enter in user credentials, save the file, and use either of the "+Import Instructors" or "+Import Students" options.

The admin will need to deactivate users from the subscription periodically to ensure users who have graduated or are no longer affiliated with the program or department have unauthorized access to the subscription.

Please download one of the PDF admin user guides in the previous tab on "How to Access" for more information on setting up instructor and student user accounts, as well as managing user accounts and other information.

For any questions or issues using the admin login, please reach out to CustomerSuccess@mheducation.com

In the admin login, you can create and manage class sections for instructors. When setting up a class section, the admin can later add an instructor assigned to the class section, as well as add a co-instructor if needed. The admin also can deactivate a class section. With deactivating a class section however, users with accounts tied to the subscription can still access the subscription just not the particular class section in which they were enrolled. To deactivate user accounts, please refer to the previous tab on "Managing Users."

Instructors using their personal instructor logins also can create and manage their own class sections, as well as deactivate students from the class and move students to other class sections of theirs (but not other instructors' class sections). For more information on instructor accounts and functionalities, please see the tab above, "Test Prep" >> "Faculty & Students."

Please download one of the PDF admin user guides in the previous "How to Access" tab for more information on setting up and managing class sections.

For any questions or issues using the admin login, please reach out to CustomerSuccess@mheducation.com

Customers who trial or subscribe to any of McGraw Hill's Test Prep collections can setup remote authentication and access options using IP. Currently, SSO such as with OpenAthens and other providers is not enabled for these collections; however, WAYFless URLs can be explored and setup as an option on a case-by-case basis.

If you are providing access to the trial or subscription using IP addresses, users can sign up for student accounts when within IP range. Instructor access is setup and managed by the admin to ensure that students cannot setup instructor accounts. For more information on creating instructor accounts, please see the previous tab on "Managing Users."

Once a user has created an account, or once their account has been created for them by the admin or by an instructor, there is no need to reauthenticate. The user will have access until their account is deactivated from the subscription by the admin. Users sign into the site directly from the site homepage URL including admin, instructor, and student users. For more information on managing users and deactivating users, please see the previous tab on "Managing Users."

For any questions or issues on authentication, please reach out to CustomerSuccess@mheducation.com

From the admin login homepage, high-level usage reports can be pulled to display how much usage the trial or subscription is receiving. Please note however this usage is general platform usage and not individual student or class-level performance data which is accessible to instructors in their respective instructor logins.

The admin can pull usage reports by date and export the data to a .CSV file. Reports can display data with daily, weekly, or monthly options in the date range. Also, the admin can filter by "User Logins-System Report" to download app usage data.

Other usage report options can be found in the upper-left menu under "Content Usage Reports," including usage on lessons completed, top five teaching and learning outcomes, questions answered, quizzes attempted, and assessments submitted.

For any questions or issues on usage reports, please reach out to CustomerSuccess@mheducation.com
