Clinical Reasoning by McGraw Hill is a digital learning tool designed to help future clinicians build confidence in their diagnostic reasoning skills using a structured, evidence-based framework.

Create Your Account

To create your Clinical Reasoning account, go to https://clinicalreasoning.mheducation.com and sign up with your institutional email address (e.g. Meredith.Grey@university.edu). Your account will be linked to your Boards & Beyond and First Aid Forward account (if you have one); you will use the same password to sign into all accounts. 

Detailed instructions to create your Clinical Reasoning account:

  1. Go to https://clinicalreasoning.mheducation.com 
    • You can be on- or off-campus. 
  2. Enter your institutional email address (e.g. Meredith.Grey@university.edu)  
    • You must use your institutional email address because that is what connects you to our subscription. 
    • If you have a Boards & Beyond or First Aid Forward account with the same email address, tyour account(s) will be linked to your Clinical Reasoning account. You'll use the same password. 
  3. Enter your information.
  4. Select your Account Creation Method.  
    • Receive Temporary Access Link: You will receive an email with a link to sign in. The link is temporary—it is one-time use and must be used within 24 hours. 
    • Enter Password Manually: Set a password. If you have a Boards & Beyond or First Aid Forward account with the same email, your accounts will be linked and the password you enter here will be the new password for your Boards & Beyond/First Aid Forward account.  
  5. Acknowledge the terms and conditions.
  6. Click Continue. 
  7. Check your email; click on the link you receive to sign in.  
    • If you selected Temporary Access Link as your Account Creation Method, click the link to be verified and sign in.  
    • If you selected Enter Password Manually as your Account Creation Method, you will be taken to the sign in page. Select Enter Password Manually and enter your password. You will receive an email from us. Click the link to be verified and sign in. The verification link is only necessary the first time you sign in; next time, you’ll be able to just enter your password and sign in. 
  8. You now have access to Clinical Reasoning! Sign in at https://clinicalreasoning.mheducation.com. You can use a password or temporary access link.  
  9. Renew your access: every 180 days, you must sign in using the temporary access link to re-verify your account and maintain your access. 

Notes: 

  • At this time, Clinical Reasoning is only available with an institutional trial/subscription. 
  • All users need to create their own account; there is no way to create accounts for users.
