Access App: Getting Started

About the Access App

The new Access App from McGraw Hill Medical is a personalized interactive learning solution that makes studying easier and more efficient. Learners can search vetted and trusted medical content across a variety of mediums that best fit their learning needs, including: books and chapters, videos, podcasts, infographics, images, tables, and figures.

New features and updates will continue to be added to the app allowing you to align the best parts of the desktop experience through your Access profile while also adding and integrating features users have been requesting, including cases and board exam review Q&A.

Visit the Access User Center at this link for more information on what content is available on the app and how to install it on your mobile device.

Note: You may need to connect to your institution's subscription for access to the resources in this LibGuide.

Access Profile

To engage with all the content and resources on the Access App, users need to create a free Access profile in any applicable Access Medical site to which their institution subscribes. With an Access profile, users can save content to favorites and organize their collections, manage notifications, track their history and resume activities, and more.

Download the PDF flyer below to learn more about creating an Access profile.

Setup and FAQs

HOW TO SETUP

Step 1: Access Your Institution’s Subscriptions:

  • On desktop or mobile browser, navigate to your institutional subscription to an applicable Access Medical site, e.g., AccessMedicine (see McGraw Hill Medical homepage for complete list of Access Medical digital collections). Please note your access may be provided through your institution’s library website, intranet or VPN. You should see your institutional affiliation in the upper-right sign in area in the applicable Access Medical sites (“Access provided by [your institution’s name and/or logo]”).

Step 2: Sign In/Create Your Access Profile:

  • In any applicable Access Medical site to which your institution subscribes, sign into your Access profile in the upper-right of the site or create your profile. More information about creating an Access profile can be found here (or see the "Access Profile" box in this guide).

Step 3: Install the App:

On your mobile device, navigate to the appropriate link to install the Access app for iOS and Android (or see the "Get the Access App" box in this guide for QR codes). After installing, you will be prompted to sign in with your Access profile credentials. Please note the Access app is not yet optimized for viewing on iPad or tablet (although it can be installed on this device type and will display as phone size on-screen).

NOTE:

  1. You have 90 days of access before you will need to re-authenticate to your institution’s subscription through the library website, intranet or VPN. You will receive a reminder in-app when you need to reconnect to the subscription.
  2. If you downloaded the app first, you will be automatically validated once you are on campus (within your institution's designated IP range) and your phone connects to your institution’s network.
  3. The following Access Medical sites are not currently featured in the Access app:
  • AccessArtMed
  • AccessMedicina
  • Case Files Collection
  • Murtagh Collection
  • JAMAevidence

The Access App Librarian and Admin FAQs is a great resource for librarians and other administrators of your institution's subscriptions to McGraw Hill Medical.
